Sudden Loadshedding likely to reduce

After three days of shutdown, production has partially resumed at Dinajpur's Barapukuria thermal power plant. On Thursday (September 12) at 8:30 pm, unit number 1 of the center started generating electricity. The stakeholders are expecting that the ongoing load shedding will reduce in a few days.

Chief Engineer of Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant Md. Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter and said that power generation has started in unit number 1 of the center from 8:30 pm on Thursday. Initially, 60 to 70 MW of electricity is being produced from this unit with a power generation capacity of 125 MW. which is being supplied to the national grid.

Md. Abu Bakar Siddique said that unit number 2 with 125 MW capacity has been closed since November 2020. Unit No. 3 was shut down on September 9 due to failure of the electro hydraulic well pump. Unit No. 1 is old. It was also closed on the night of September 6 for renovation work. Unit No. 1 has been commissioned today from 8:32 PM after repairs. Although the unit has a capacity of 125 MW, it generates 60-65 MW of electricity per day. which is being added to the national grid. He said that the contracting company has been informed that they have asked for 15 days. It will be possible to start unit number 3 when the machine comes from China. 

Earlier, Unit No. 1 was shut down on September 9 due to mechanical failure. Apart from this, unit number 2 of thermal power plant is closed since November 2020. Unit No. 3 with a capacity of 275 MW was shut down at the end of July this year.
